Loved the pictures from Tony Packo’s!  Maybe we can have a Packo’s outing during the reunion for us out-of-towners.

Great Idea Diane!

I along with Joe Goodell are in the process of planning some extra caricular events on the periphery of the BIG REUNION WEEKEND and Tony Packos is on that list!. We were hoping that the committee would soon nail down their schedule of events so that we can plan around them. Jan and Kim have you made a definate schedule yet?... if so can you post it here so that we out of towners can start to make plans. Marge you mentioned other excursions on the weekend (Art Museum, School tour etc) Has any of that come together ? Bill has the date been set for our golf outting? The Reunion is only six months away and plans have to be made, Air fare, Hotels, Car Rentals etc. Pleae let us know as soon as you can so we can get started! I for one am looking forward to seeing everyone. I hope that as many classmates as possible attend. Many of us will be spending a lot of money to come back to Toledo for this "once in a life time event" and it will be a shame if we don't  get a GREAT turnout to see old friends and reminis about the good old Daze... I mean it our  50th REUNION!!!

Stay Well Gang : )

Hey Linda and Joan! So glad you both are coming to the April get together. We don’t have a location yet. Dale will post it on the website near the end of the month.

Re: 50th Class Reunion - Pat Gilbert

I posted this in November, but will post again as a current reminder.

Reunion --  Thursday, October 4th  -  Sunday, October 7th, 2018

Re: Casino and Zoo Events, etc.

We will have pamphlets/brochures available at the Thursday night, 10/4 Fundango (place to be determined soon)and on the Hospitality Table (Renaissance Hotel) on Friday night, 10/5 and Saturday night, 10/6.  There are so many great places to visit in Toledo.

We are not planning group events. This way you can go at your own leisure or make plans with classmates.

After the Friday night get-together, the Hollywood Casino might be an option for your agenda.

The Toledo Zoo was voted best zoo in the nation. If you decide to go, when you purchase your tickets make sure you mention 'senior rate' and you will receive $2 off your ticket.  Also, if you are a military veteran, show your " military ID" and you willl get in free.

The pamphlets/brochures will have directions to the places you might want to explore.  There will also be maps. There is so much to see in Toledo....so choose your interest, make plans and have fun!

Dress is casual for all events, including Saturday night.

Thanks Marge...  according to your post this is a list of the events planned  by the committee thus far...

REUNION EVENTS

Thursday, October 4th, 2018 Fundango (tbd)

(Brochures and pamphlets for individual excursions to local venues will be available)

Friday, October 5th, 2018

(Morning) Class Golf scramble @ Stone Oak CC (per Chip)

Start High tour 1:00 p.m. (per Jan)

(Evening) Renaissance Hotel Hospitality Mixer

Saturday,  October 6th, 2018 Renaissance Hotel, Dinner/Dance

PERIPHERY EVENTS (planned by Joe Goodell & Pat Gilbert)

Sunday October 7th,  2018 Pot Luck Picnic @ Olander Park ...

Park opens at 8 a.m. for set up, Fishing, Hiking, Jogging, Walking, Bird watching or whatever.

The comittee has provided the funds for Burgers, Dogs, BBQ grill and set ups. We hope to eat at around 1 p.m. We have reserved the Pavillion.

Monday evening, October 8th, 2018 Pizza party @ JoJo"s

We are thinking around 6 p..m and there is a tavern next door called the Blind Pig that Joe is looking into group rates.

There was previous mention of a golf outing, trip to the Art museum,  Zoo, Tony Pacos, The Elbow Room and others like the Start High football game. If all of these other excursions have been left up to the individual. I would like permission to start making plans for some of these on the days & evenings right before and after the planned weekend events. As you can see, Joe Goodell and I have gotten permission from Jan and have planned a picnic at Olander park on Sunday and a pizza outing @JoJo's Pizza on Monday evening.  We would like to plan a few more outings that classmates may choose to join us in but we do NOT want to step on any toes. Please update any events that the committee wants to arrange and I will keep you all posted on our progress.

P.S. Is there anyplace else that any of you out-of-towner classmates would like to go? Please post a comment here.

Janis Fought (Brown)

We will have an organized trip to Start High School on Friday, October 5, at 1:00 PM. An anonymous donor has made a gift to provide transportation from a central location to SHS. More details later. The football schedule for October is not yet available so we don't know about that option.

There will be a Hospitality Room where folks can just hang out or meet to connect and arrange excursions, exchange contact info, etc.

The reunion web site should be up and running in the next few weeks.

Greetings from Ojai, California where the fire surrounded the town but we were fine.. Thanks for all the work you all are putting in to make our reunion wonderful. I love seeing the photos of your gatherings too. For those of us needing lodging, is there any group rate we could get at the Renaissance? Only 6 months away! On Easter I always think of Mr. Thomsen coming on the P.A. and Chip saying "He's going to wish us a Happy Eathter!" Not PC but very funny Chip. We had such good times. I keep meaning to hunt for photos, is it too late?

There will be several hotels to choose from that will be listed on the new Reunion Website. We are checking discounts (AAA/AARP) and if there is a discount on staying multiple days.

There will also be a discounted rate at the Renaissance and a block of rooms have been set aside.
