WHERE ARE THEY NOW

MISSING CLASSMATES

Know the email address of a missing Classmate? Click here to contact them!

Welcome to the Start High Class of 1968 web site!  We are having regular get togethers at local area restaurants.  Watch for annoucements on the Message Forum & the Roy C Start-SixEight Facebook Page of where and when the Fandango is being held and do your best to be there.

We still need your help in locating missing or lost classmates so as many as possible can be invited to attend our next Reunion (50years). Please email nancy at SpartanUpdate68@gmail.com or starthigh68@bex.net with any lost classmate info.  Review your contact info and update your profile.

We will maintain this site and email address for a long time so we can more easily stay in touch with each other.  Thanks for keeping the Spartan Spirit going strong....

ANNOUNCEMENTS

We are having our July Fandango at North Cape Yacht club. It is a sailing club and we will have several boats there for anyone who wants to go out sailing for an hour or so. Pam Hudson is helping me coordinate this. We decided to bring appetizers and dessert and not a pot luck as it is too much work. The club has hot dogs, burgers and pizza and sometimes shrimp that you can purchase with cash, check or card. As far as alcohol goes since we are a private club you will need to bring cash only as you will have to hand me the cash and I ill have to hand it to the bartender. I am hoping Tommy Thompson comes as he is a member of Monroe boat club so he can help me and I will have a couple friends there to help too. Please tell me is anyone is coming that is also a yacht club member anywhere. AS far as going out on the boats please bring a small cooler if you want anything to drink with whatever you are drinking but it can only be consumed on the boats or on the grounds but not inside the club or on the patio. So if you want to sail please be at the club by 4pm. The club is open till 11pm so you can stay as long as you want to. I would appreciate if you would contact me at Blondyi40@aol.com and tell me how many of you are coming and also if you have any questions I will send you my phone number. The date is July 5th Tuesday with a rain date of July 7th Thursday. It is really beautiful out there and I think you will all enjoy it I am sooo excited for you all to come and enjoy the water and the scenery. BTW the club is air conditioned. Directions ( I will post these again ) exit 9 Lasalle (off 75N) go to the stop sign turn right. Its about 1 mile till u will see the end of the road into the lake. There is a huge sign that says Toledo Beach and North Cape Yacht Club. Turn right at the sign. You will come to a fork in the road DO NOT TURN right at you will go into Toledo beach. Bear left around the little island and you will see the open gate to NCYC. As soo as you come in we are about 12 boats down on the right I dont have the dock number right now but I will post it soon. :) Hope to see alot of you turn out but again I would like to have a general number of how many are coming as there are only 10 people to a boat and I can get more boats if needed.

I have been in contact with Dale Bennington and Tom Stokes about the Start HIgh 68 memorial tree and other ideas we are working on for the future. I wholeheartedly support this effort and thank Dale and Tom (and others) for stepping up and moving things forward.

We are definitely going to have a 50th Reunion and will use our periodic get togethers as a springboard to plan the timing and events for the 50th reunion weekend. Thanks to all loyal Spartans for your spirit. The "Great Class of 68" still gets things done...Chip.

See http://www.68memorial.org/home.html for info on the memorial and donations.

Hello fellow SPARTANS! We have our website almost totally updated (90%) and it's high time we start thinking about our reunion, We are the first class to Graduate that attended all four years at Start and we should set the Reunion Bar High for all the classes that come after us! Please fill out the Survey listed in the left colum under Missing Classmates and LET'S-GET-STARTED. Beacause... as our Cheer Squad said so well " THE TROUBLE WITH START IS TO STOP"!

Memorial '68

Victory!

As of yesterday 8/23/15 we have met our goal, the contract to the sculptor has been signed and the sculpture and time capsule will be installed next summer along with the placement & dedication of the First Spartan plaque in the fall of 2016….congratulations to all 72 memorial contributors!

The amount collected is slightly over the goal and as stated all funds collected exceeding our goal will be used to fund a 50th Anniversary Scholarship to a deserving 2018 SHS senior in commemoration of our 50th reunion. The Memorial ’68 website will remain active for the duration so to enable contributions to the scholarship, with a goal of $1,000.00.

REGARDING OUR MIA LIST!

As you know we have been working on updating our class mailing list and thanks to the hard work & research on the part of Nancy Szymanski, Jan Alexander and a lot of input from our Spartan Classmates we have reduced the Original MIA's to the names now listed under "Missing Classmates". This updates our Class mailing list to aproximately 350 addresses not bad after almost 50 years!!

ADDITIONALLY We have updated our "In Memory Page" with the most recent Information we have. Many Thanks to Gary McMahon for finding dates and posting Obituary's...

 Class of 68 still "Gettin-It-Done!!

We Now have a Roy C Start-SixEight Facebook page as well. Please sign up for the latest anouncements, photos and comments from fellow 68 Start Grads. It's alot of fun and a great way to stay in touch! Just go to Facebook and send a friend request to Roy C Start-SixEight.
