The power of prayer. I experienced and absolute miracle. Thanks to all of you who were praying for me I had a wonderous result. As you know, I was looking at a 8 to 10 hour operation, a radical tonsillectomy, neck dissection, reconstruction surgery, skin grafts to rebuild my throat. Not all took place, when the surgeon started up with me, he found so little cancer, that all I needed was a tonsillectomy, and of course the 7" incision on the right side of my neck to remove the lymph nodes. And for good measure a piece of tongue was removed. Total time in the operating room was like 6 hours, only the one surgeon, no trach tube, and I was released on Saturday. I believe I was released to find more bed space for other that are ill, before things shut down with this virus. I was told I would be in the hospital for a least a week.

Be that as it may, this was a miracle to not have been subjected to what 5 doctors said I was going to go thru. I am on the mend, my cancer is gone, now it's just resting and getting my strength back, and my mobility in my right shoulder, the incision runs from below my ear to my chin, under the jaw bone. But I survived, and am better off for it today..

The only down side was my wife was not allowed to stay in the room, as all visitors were banned, and I had no clothes to wear, they released my in my hospital gown, and socks in 30 degree snowy Cleveland. How ironic to experience that, from the Cleveland Clinic.

Our classmate Gary Panczner called this to our attention.   It is an effort in Toledo (for those with the sewing skills to produce them)  to sew masks according to the instructions provided at the following link:

If you are so inclined please help this effort to supply masks to those who need them.  Thanks for your help!

Elastic for making reusable surgical masks is in short supply or was at Reynolds Rd. JoAnn Fabric but I was able to get some 1/2" rather than 1/4" that I think would be better but.......... Also JoAnn's is handing out bags with everything needed to make 5 reusable masks for yourself or whatever your needs and if you want to just help out and you don't have anyone needing them they will take them in the finished state to donate for you . Reynolds Rd. gave me my kit this morning, my sister said Monroe St location will be handing out Monday Morning. They have directions printed for making theirs and I understand there are You Tube videos showing how it's done ! Stay Safe . One more thing there is a Face book Group called "Mutual Aid Toledo" I am sure it is regional do a search for people and organizations needing help , having things or information to share !

I just wanted to let friends and classmates know that on 2/3/2020, I had Quintuple heart bypass surgery, here at Holmes Regional Heart Center in Melbourne, Florida. This was a sudden surgery upon failing the usual stress test. This heart disease was passed on thru hereditary on my mother's side and her 11 siblings; all had and succumbed to over the years. During my procedure, the drs. also reconditioned 2 heart valves. I am home now after being in the hospital 5 days and recovery has begun. Slow painful process, but I am hoping that I can continue my 17 year high school (Melbourne Central Catholic H.S.) Boys Varsity Coaching career in the very near future. Just wanted to let all know, that a personal event like this makes one reflect on their mortality, like never before. This life saving/changing miracle, for me, was brought on by a series of events, in which God moved in mysterious ways, with decisions that I could not understand at the time. Now I do and very grateful for his presence in my life.
