We are moving to Aurora, a little town SE of Cleveland and close to family on both sides of the aisle. I'll see what I can work out.

I spoke with Rick Hoyts sister...she said that Rick passed away on September 3,2016 in Arizona. He was a tool and die maker there. He died of cancer.

Rick's sister gave me a nice pic of Rick but I'm not sure how to post it on here.

Thank you Rodger Worley for finding Mike -Zielinski... See folks those missing classmates are still out there please check our Mia list and see who you can find! We are down to only 37 MIA's from aproximately 120 two years ago thanks to the efforts of Nancy Szymanski  and other classmates who took the time to make that call to a cousin, Brother, Sister or BFF to see if they know where to find them. Hard to believe some of the names on the list like Cheryl Colquhoun & Cary Lutz.. common gang the reunion is only Two months away and the of of towers are going to be spending a small fortune in order to attend with air fare, hotel, car rental.  So please get on this gang!!

Thanks, Pat! Mike Z. Came to the Fundango last night. Had a great turnout at the Mayfly. Marge will post photos (I’m pretty sure). We raised $110 for SHS teachers in art, music (thanks for the reminder, Gwen!)  and distributive ed for supplies. Bill Carstensen won the 50/50.

Please please please RSVP for the reunion. We are 8 weeks away—just 2 months. To make the most of the activities, we need to know that you will be there: www.shs50reunion.com OR send RSVP and checks to:

157 Rosedale Place
Rossford, OH 43460

See you soon!

Pat put it quite nicely...out of towners will need to spend a small fortune to attend. Unfortunately, some of us do not have the money. So, unfortunately, I will probably not be able to attend.

We tried to give as much advanced notice as possible about the weekend—almost two years—because we wanted to give folks with limited resources an a opportunity to plan for the expenditure. The committee has done the best it can to keep the price per person low and still offer a most memorable weekend. We have raised money (Kim has done the most work) to supplement costs to keep attendees’ costs low, offered a variety of hotel options (there are dozens of motels in the Toledo area with great rates) a bus for the Start tour and a lot of additional activities. Kim and I are very proud of the events put together by a many committees who want to have a good time and reconnect and have done so frugally and responsibly. If, by chance, any money is left over, it will be given back to Start High School.

Proud??..... as well you should be!. And we classmates are very thankful for all of your efforts Jan & Kim. I for one am looking forward to seeing all those classmates that we have lost touch with over the years. I remember the night my Mom came home from her 50th reunion @ Notre Dame Academy in Toledo. She told me how she got to see people she had went to grade school with. So this reunion will go a lot farther back than just High school. I hope you all can find a way to attend. Stay well old friends and Just Be There!

I believe it will be the event of our lifetimes, reuniting with our classmates and seeing the wonderful people that they have become! No excuses will be accepted!

Let's not forget all the other people on the reunion committees that have worked really hard too:  Nancy Wolff, Deb Pfann, Marge Updegraf and Karen Kowalski.  I'm sure there are more that I don't know about (or can't remember).  Just remember - it takes a village . . . .  This will be an event to remember and EVERYONE has done a great job in getting it put together, and keeping the cost low.

This is my 2nd time I've posted with regard to all of the hard work done by all of the members of the reunion committee.  One only has to look at the Blade, where the announcements are for reunions.

We are the ONLY school class to have an event, an event weekend, all the others are having a typical reunion, a dinner and dance at a country club, from 6-10 PM, that's it!  For a 50th!

Your classmates have made sure that the cost for ALL of the activites was reasonable and that this reunion would be one for the ages, a memoralble once in a lifetime event.

For those attending, we'll have a great time, to those who sat back and said, well maybe next time, this will be YOUR loss.  I know of many who have yet to attend a reunion, my question to them is what are you afraid of?  Renewing old friendships, having fun, enjoying life?  I don't get it.

So thanks again to all of those hard working classmates, hey even Pat, all the way out West, is working his tail off.  So don't be a stick in the mud, come on out and have some fun.

A  special thanks to the whole committee for putting together what looks to be a wonderful celebration. I know how much energy it takes to put something like this together.  Thank you for your dedication.  See you in October.

As I said, we are very proud of the committees that have taken their charge and run with it (wait 'til you see the take-home souvenirs from the Hospitality Committee!). We involved as many people as possible and more still are volunteering. It's the committees that are doing all the work, being creative and coming up with ideas. (I apologize for reacting as I did. I was disappointed that a classmate thought the weekend was too expensive after the committees have worked so hard to keep costs low.)

We are in the home-stretch now and the pace is picking up. Our next meeting is August 8 at 4:00 PM where we will take stock of where we are and start focusing on the small details. The place is TBD but will be announced so any others who want to volunteer can attend. We will be meeting on a regular and often basis from now on!

You have to be there--it's going to be epic!
