Wishing everyone a Happy & Healthy New Year - may all of our trials be small & our joys be awesome!  As most of us turn 70 this year, we can all marvel at that fact.  Remember when 70 was old?  Now it's the new 40.  I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Fundangos.  For those of you who haven't attended, it's a fun time - step out of your comfort zone & join us.

Greetings, Ed and I both apologize for the delay in announcing this month’s “Fundango,” but as most of you are well aware, as of late, none of us (with maybe one or two exceptions, like Chip) are getting any younger. That being said, boy do we have a deal for you. Quick go and get your social calendar and then circle Thursday, January 30th, at 5:00 pm.

Now for this next step, I may need to have Pat Gilbert help us out some, because I want you to imagine that everyone that shows up for our January “Fundango” will be given a role in our very own production of “Night at the Museum.” That is correct, we are all going to take advantage of our good friend and buddy, Ed Kanarowski (playing the role that Ben Stiller starred in) who has a wonderful job down at the Toledo Museum of Art, and use his connections, to hold our January “Fundango” at the Toledo Museum of Art Cafe.

No, there is no admission fee to the museum, and if you don’t park in the museum parking lot, we can provide you with directions to free parking, half a block away, in a church parking lot. In describing the food that is served up in the cafe Ed uses superlatives such as exquisite and fabulous. And best of all, after we enjoy our tantalizingly good food and beverage, we will have the opportunity to undertake our very own guided tour of the very best of the Toledo Museum of Art, being guided by none other than our very own, Ben Stiller … errr … I mean, Ed Kanarowski.

Our adventuresome “Fundango” awaits you, hope to see you all there.

Additional details to follow -

Ken Carl, Nancy Menard Carl's husband, passed away on January 15. The obituary was in today's (Sunday) paper. Nancy and Ken moved to the Columbus area a few years back to be close to kids and grandkids. It was so good to see Nancy at the reunion. I am truly sorry to hear about a Ken.

I have some of those additional details that I promised you, regarding our “Night at the Museum” adventure (a.k.a. January Fundango). According to a very reliable source, every Thursday is “Happy Hour” at the Toledo Museum of Art, Cafe, featuring all beers and wines being half off, and … and … when you purchase any one entree off of their menu, the next entree is half off. Such a deal.

And no Roger, there is no admission price to the Museum, so I am planning on parking in the free church parking lot and walking into the museum for free. Oh, and don’t forget, after we wine and dine at our “Fundango,” we get our very own, Ben Stiller conducted, “Night at the Museum” tour.

Hope to see you there.

I want to express my appreciation for the birthday greetings. Nice to know people are thinking about you.  I guess this is the year we have to decide what to do with the ol' 401K.

London: re: 401k..... not necessarily. On  Dec.30, 2019, required minimum distributions (RMD’s) for those born after July 1, 1949 were pushed out to age 72. Be sure to check this out for your own situation. Same goes for any standard Individual Retirement Accounts. Hope this helps.

And belated birthday wishes!

Best regards, Dave

Just a quick reminder that this Thursday (01/30) evening we are having our “Night at the Museum” adventure (a.k.a. January “Fundango”) at the Toledo Museum of Art Cafe, starting at 5:00 pm., with a post-dinner tour of the museum on the night’s itinerary.

Ed suggests that you come into the Museum by using the south entrance, just off of Art Museum Dr., and although there is a Museum parking lot, across the street from the south entrance, that parking lot charges a parking fee.  Ed suggests that you might want to consider parking in the back parking lot of the Glenwood Lutheran Church (for free), just half a block away.

Upon your arrival at the museum, as you come through the south entrance, you enter the lobby area. The Museum Cafe is situated just to the right of the lobby.

Looking forward to seeing everyone. Oh, and sharing some of the details of the “International Fundango” that Ed and I are starting to work on for January of 2021.

International??? Finally a Fundango in Hawaii I hope. It would be so nice to see everyone again.. We actually miss you folks! ;)

01/28/20 02:27 PM #3251

Dale Benington

Sorry Pat, although going to Hawaii does involve leaving the continental United States, when you land on Hawaii you are still “in” the United States, so that doesn’t get a pass on being considered “international.

Actually, we are working on heading the opposite direction, and having two “Fundangos” in one month, but on separate continents.

I'll give you that one Dale. I guess I should have paid more attention in Geography class. But please keep Hawaii (and Las Vegas) in mind for future Fundango's. La-Li's class took a Cruise last year. Now that most of us are retired maybe we should consider an annual travel Fundango...

That is an excellent idea Pat, and I will work on promoting it.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this evening at “Night at the Museum” adventure.  Hope to share how Ed and I are talking about a possible dual “International Fundango,” in January of 2021, with the first “Fundango” in Jerusalem on Thursday, January 7th, and the second “Fundango” in Cairo on Tuesday, January 12th.

What a wonderful story Gary. I'll keep playing the lottery and when I hit that bad boy. I'm in on this one! But in the mean time any of you multi millionaire classmates might consider joining in on this worthwhile endeavor. You could change the world one step at a time! :)

As the year 2020 is a Presidential election year, and the month of February has already proven to be so “Presidential,” Ed and I have decided to have this month’s “Fundango” at the

Whitehouse Inn

, in Whitehouse, Ohio. And while we have already contacted the staff of the Inn, we haven’t finalized all of the details, but our goal is to have our February “Fundango” on Tuesday, February 25th, from 5 until 7:30 pm. Further details to follow.

We are also working on the March “Fundango,” which will hopefully be scheduled for Tuesday, March 24th, at one of my very favorite sports eateries. So pencil that date in and when we seal the deal, we’ll provide you with those details.

And then finally, our other big project, is the “International Fundango,” which we are scheduling for January 2021, has us having dual “Fundangoes,” with the first one being held at the Grand Court Hotel, in Jerusalem, on Monday, January 11th, and the second one being held at the Le Meridan Pyramids Hotel, in Cairo, on Thursday, January 14th. We are having our “Fundangoes” there, because that is where Ed and I are planning on being. If you are interested in joining us, it will be a 17 day trip, from January 3rd through 19th, and the cost is $4,790 per person. So if you are interested and would like more details, please let me know.

Joe Goodell, send me a message by text. I think you have been hacked.

Yes he was Jan. I got an email asking me to buy an Amazon gift card for him as he was traveling. I called him and he indeed was hacked. Please disregard any correspondence of this type from him or anyone for that matter.

I thought so. I have seen this before, having received a similar email from someone else a couple of years ago.
