I agree with Nancy that nice weather will be a relief. And I agree with Gary that this has been an opportune time to catch up on some great reading, do some online brain games and cuddle with my dog. I let go of the things I cannot control and this is one of them. I am working from home so do have some hours of the day taken up with tasks from my job but the flexibility it wonderful. If this is what retirement is like, it's clear why you all enjoy it!

By the way, very little time has been spent cleaning the house...................

I can relate to Gary as I have been at home with an infection in my left leg for the last 7 months, so haven't been out much. I posted a message on our home page explaining what has happened over the last year to me. I hopefully can get out when things change and I get better.

I remember being in kindergarten with Jan and 1st grade with Gary Johnson. Funny thing we also graduated from UT too.  Lots of great times in between.   I hope that Frank, Jeff, Bones and other classmates recovering from illness and injury get better soon.  The weather has been spotty. Would love to have one of those nice Spring 70 degree days with lots of sun.  Itching to play more golf with the Start gang.  Hang tough as we Spartans always do.

Hello All - I just got off the phone with Frank Bialecki.  His nurse had just left, so we talked for quite a while.  He sure has been through it, but has a very positive attitude.  He said he's moved to Waterville, and lives in a neighborhood that takes care of the neighbors.  He's looking forward to getting his prosthesis, but for now he's still in his wheelchair.  He's in the house all day, every day (aren't we all), but he's following doctors' orders and not doing anything to make his leg worse.  He's going to try and sleep in his bed tonight for the first time in over a year.  His nurse and his son are checking in on how he's doing twice a week.  He's had a pretty rough go of it since the reunion, so if we could all say a prayer for him - he would like that.  He says he needs a haircut (don't we all), and probably in another month or two it will be long enough for a ponytail.  I told him he'd be a hippie again like when we were younger, only he'd be old.  I just wanted to tell everyone that he would appreciate a phone call 419-878-9474, and he can't wait to get his prosthesis so he can get his Corvette out this summer and go for some rides.  On another note, I'm not 70 yet either and don't turn that age until December - so technically I'm still a spring chicken at 69.  Thanks everyone.   Marcia (Kelso) Wilkinson

I also won't be 70 until 12/3 so I'm still a youngster. Best wishes and prayers to all Spartans and a speedy recovery. I never seem to know what day it is, (they last 72 hrs)and time doesn't mean much either. Stay safe, stay home, stay well. Can't wait for a fundago. I haven't done much cleaning either, there's always tomorrow...

I wish everyone good health during this time and send prayers to those Spartans who are struggling. Gary is right, we can all find ways to cope.  Luckily here in Tucson we can still golf, with restrictions, and it's nice to be able to get out in the fresh air.  Gotta say, I'm not getting into spring cleaning at all!  I've been baking and cooking too much.  Will be Happy Hour Zooming with the family all across the US today!  I think the pandemic is  forcing us to be more creative, and that's a good thing.  P.S. I won't be 70 til 12/18, so I still get to pretend I'm "young"!

Just to let all know, I’m 10 weeks now from open heart surgery. Played golf last week for the first time since surgery. A little sore but ok. Swim a little every day but dr told me to slow down a little. Staying in as much as possible, since I’m in two of the high risk groups-diabetes and heart failure. I hope all others are doing well. I’m not 70 until 12/8 this year.

Dale Benington

Greetings fellow members of the Start HS Class of 68,

I hope that all is going well with each of you, and your families, and I trust that you are all holding up under the strain of the necessary social distancing that we all have been experiencing, these past many weeks.

It has been unfortunate that we have not been able to have our monthly “Fundangos” as of late, but Pat Gilbert has encouraged me to come up with a creative alternative. So we are going to run this up the flag pole and see just how many of you salute it.

On Thursday (05/07), at 7:00 pm (EDST), we are going to offer up an online “Fundango.” The plan is to use the Zoom software to facilitate our online social gathering. So if you don’t have Zoom, go on-line and download the free version of their software. More on that later.

The theme of our May “Fundango” will be focused on encouraging our online classmates, who live outside of Northwest Ohio, to spend 10 to 15 minutes hosting a brief online visit with them, perhaps giving us a tour of their home, or their yard, or anything that they might think to be of interest (whatever you feel comfortable sharing). Perhaps, you also have some pictures of your favorite hometown attractions that you would like to share. Whatever would give us the chance to see and experience some of what your home and/or hometown is all about (giving us the chance to finally come and visit with you).

Pat and La-Li will start us off, taking us to Hawaii, and hopefully some more of our out-of-town classmates will also being willing to host us for a 10 to 15 minute visit. If not, then we’ll have to have a “68” Trivia Quiz, Boys against Girls.

So that is my humble offering. I will provide more details as they become available.

Take care and God bless,

Dale K.

I had no idea that I was the old lady of the class: 1/11! So far I have not noticed much difference from 69, same aches and pains! Compared to the alternative, 70 looks pretty good.

Jan,

Happy70!  You only get older if you're lucky. Although I will not “officially” be 70 until almost the end of the year, I tell people that I’m 70 if they ask. Interestingly, in many Asian cultures, all people born in a particular year are considered to be the same age. In Japan and China, we’re 71.

Stay Healthy,

Mark

I turned 71 the sixth of this month of April , don't worry I still feel like I'm in my 30 "s , Frank I pray you have a speedy recovery , and everything works out for the best for you . Rick slow down , I think your trying to recoup to fast but I'm glad you feel up to playing ⛳ golf, I know it took me 4 1/2 months before I went back to work and the doctor wasn't to happy about that

Francis Bialecki

I want to thank all for their thoughts and prayers. I am doing better, getting used to doing things from my wheelchair. I have some great nurses and therapists that have helped me learn things.

I talked with Jeff Willets, Pam Galbraith(Hudson) and as she posted Marcia Kelso(Wilkinson) on the phone. It was so nice to hear from them and it was a kinda pick me up to talk to some old freinds.

I hope anyone who is also dealing with health problems are getting better and those who are healthy stay that way. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I go to Dr. on Weds the 29th to find out how my leg is healing. I will update you all after I see him.

Thanks to all!

Frank

Glad to hear both of our Frank's and Bob Krose are feeling better!. Thanks Dale for arranging our first virtual Fundango. This should be a whole lot of fun. La-Li and I will be glad to give a short tour of our humble home here on Oahu. I'm guessing it will take no more than 5 minutes. This is a great way for all of us to share how we are doing during this stay at home order, and how we are coping with the virus. So who will show case their home after we finish? I hear that Manuel has new diggs in Florida right on the golf course. I can't wait to see Every ones place especially with spring in Ohio.

Dale maybe we should have a trial run so Every one can get familiar with zoom. I gotta say it's almost like being there..

Stay well fellow Spartans!
