Nancy,
Thanks for the great suggestions, much appreciated. Ed and I welcome your input, and certainly anyone else that has anything to share regarding our class “Fundangos" …. as long as you don’t make it too much work for us.
For whatever it's worth, Ed and I have been trying to go to as many different venues, where we haven’t had a previous Fundango, as possible. We sometimes resort to going to a repeat site, when our first choice doesn’t work out for us. So a number of the suggestions on your list would be repeats for us, such as Moe’s, Shorty’s, Bar Louie at the Franklin Park (which I think we went to), and of course Inky’s. So I suppose that we could do repeats, but there are so many additional great places that we haven’t been to yet that its difficult to pass up on an opportunity to go to the next new venue.
One of the suggestions on your list, Beer Barrel Pizza, Ed & I tried to work with, but they do such a good business there that they weren’t interested in working with us. And by that I mean that they wouldn’t set aside a section of tables for us, so we would have to show up and hope for the best regarding seating (and 80% of your party has to be there before they will seat you).
We went out to Zia’s, to have lunch there, intending to arrange for a “Fundango” only to discover that they didn’t open for lunches (so we went next door and arranged to have our next “Fundango” there).
I wanted to go to the Sidelines in Maumee, but got over ruled. But now that I have your vote, I’ll be renominating that venue.
A while back, Ed and I went to the Shawn’s Back Door at Eastgate and Heatherdowns, and didn’t like the feel of it for a “Fundango,” but I see where they have some additional locations that we may have to try.
Chowder & More I have been to for lunch with my church group. I never considered it for a “Fundango,” but I suppose that would work.
You will have to talk to us about Sakura, because the prices and the griddle table layout makes it tough for me to envision a “Fundango” there.
So with all of that being said, I couldn’t help but notice, that you didn’t have any downtown Toledo locations on your list (other than Zia’s, which is on the other side of the river). Soooo, is the issue NOT the issue here, and is this list of suggested “Fundango” locations a subtle way of communicating your displeasure (or dissatisfaction) with our downtown venue selections? I ask this because, being a guy, I have at times been accused of being thick, often having difficulty deciphering subtle female messaging (or at least that’s what my first wife use to tell me). Just asking (working on my Venusian language skills).
