Can't remember who I heard it from, but they said the statue we did out of bricks has an arm broken off, the plaque has fallen off and it is scratched.  They are obviously not taking care of that with the new person either.  Too bad.

Seasons Greetings,

I just got off the phone with Ed, and he shared with me the results of his visit to Start HS from earlier this morning. Apparently, according to Ed, after visiting the school court yard he is happy to share that reports of the early demise of our “Spirit Tree” and structural harm to our “Statue,” are indeed overstated.

From what Ed has told me, our “Spirit Tree,” is still alive and growing, but not thriving as well as one would like to see. As for our “Statue,” after a close inspection, Ed was happy to report that he could not find any structural damage of any kind.

With regards to the plaque, those of you that visited the statue on our 50th anniversary, may recall that the plaque that had been affixed to the supportive structure, under the statue, had been knocked off and that there was a gash in the middle of the plaque. Ed reports that the plaque is now affixed to the supportive structure directly above the statue (but unfortunately the gash in the middle of the plaque is still there).

Ed included some pictures that he took, but I have not been able to successfully download them to the forum page, but I will try again at a later date. Right now I have to hurry off to take care of some other things. But that said, Best wishes for a Blessed Holiday Season to one and all.

Hi everyone. I am not getting any email notifications if there are new messages.  Also no email notifications on birthdays since December....sorry if I missed sending anyone a happy birthday message. I log in so that I can see any new messages in the Message Forum. I checked in "Notify Me" for sending notifications and everything is correct. Is anyone else having this same issue?

A very Merry Christmas to all and a Happy, HEALTHY New Year!!

Looking forward to seeing everyone again soon! Miss you!

Merry Christmas everyone!  I hope your holidays are good ones and that next year is better for getting together.  Frank, you were wrong!  It's still snowing here in Cleveland and there's already about 6-7 inches on the ground.  So much for your 1-2 inches.  I wish you were right, but I'm hoping that the news was wrong too - predicting 12-18 inches.  Can't say we're not having a white Christmas!  Have a great day and enjoy!

Hi Marge, I have not received any notifications either. Paul and I believe it is tied in with Buckeye Cablesystem. Are there any other classmates that are experiencing this issue?

Happy New Year everyone!

Dear Classmates, thank you for your thoughts and prayers. My sister was in a nursing home for 4 1/2 years. She had many health issues but is now at peace.

Joyce (Updegraff) was also a Start High School graduate - Class of 1965.

Gwen Senerius asked me to let you know that her brother Wally Fenneken has passed away from Alzheimer's disease.  He was the owner of the Mayfly Tavern on Summit Street for many years. He also was a fraternity brother of mine in Phi Kappa Psi at UT. His wake will be at the Mayfly at 2pm on Monday January 11th for those who are interested in attending. He will be missed. Gwen oversaw his care over the last years and is an angel for doing so under trying circumstances.  God Bless her!
