I'm very saddened to hear of Kim's passing. He was one of my closest friends of the class of 68'. It is strange that just this week I was going through the year book and pictures I've kept of our Sr. year. One of them was of Kim and I decorating Mr. Eller's home room for color day. I will cherish the many memories that we made together during our days at Start HS. Rest in peace my friend.

Oh no! I spoke to Kim several times since the reunion. We met as Freshman at Start and remained close even after graduation. We went to Centennial Quarry that summer of 68 almost daily. I introduced him to a friend and they dated for some time. We used to sit in his 61 Olds convertable with the top down and debate evrything from girls to the Universe! I lost track of Kim when I went into the service until we reunited at the reunion. I am so glad for the reunion.

I will miss you, my friend.

So sorry to hear of Kims passing due to Covid. I hope everyone is being safe, getting vaccinated and keeping their family healthy. My son and daughter-in-law just had a bout with Covid...she spent 5 days in the hospital. They are now doing better, she is home now, but put a scare into me because I know how deadly this virus is.

I've gotten both my shots but I am still careful when going out to places. Hopefully we will all get through this terrible pandemic that has taken so many family and friends!

Be safe all !!!

I am just heartbroken to hear that we have lost Kim. He was one of my first friends when I transferred to Start in my junior year.  I was planning to visit my sister in Toledo later this year and catch a Fundango to see him in particular later this year.  My heartfelt condolences to his family.  Please everyone, get vaccinated and share your love every day with friends and family.

Cindy

That's sad about Kim. We played hoops at the YMCA after HS for years. Saw him recently at Wildwood walking trails a couple of times. Guess these are the times we're in and they're not always pleasant

I'm not sure how to attach this information but I just received notice that FEMA is going to release up to $9,000.00 to help families pay for funeral expense for there love ones who have past away. I will try to send it to one of our class mates to post on oursite, Joe G

04/22/21 04:54 PM #3750

Dave Dunmead

Joe is mostly correct. FEMA bulletin HQ-21-071 indicates they will pay up to $9000 for funeral related expenses for those who have died from COVID-19 and the death certificate states that is the cause of death. The bulletin was posted 3/24/21 and I would suggest looking it up as it is lengthy as are all government bulletins !

Classmates: one of our own made the national news this weekend! Join me in congratulating Pat Gilbert whose recent film made CBS News yesterday. I have posted a link below and I hope you all can open it. Name of the film is The Wind and the Reckoning. Way to go, Pat!! Pat, let us know when we see you on the "silver screen"!

Pat: is there anything you are able to share with us about your experiences during the film making? Any pictures? Favorite memories? How did La-Li survive without you during your "quarantine"?😉 Proud of you, my friend!

Patrick Gilbert

Hi Dave!

Thank you for sharing the CBS News report! Yes I do have some photos but don't know how to post them. I'll email them to Marge and hopefully she can post them. It was quite an experience.

La-Li did not want me to accept the role because of Covid. We shot in October and the virus was running rampant. But after I explained that we would be in a bubble she relented. I'm sure glad she did.

I play Eben Sinclair an 1880's Ranch Owner in Hawaii during the Leprosy epidemic. It's a sweet role for this old fart! I had a wonderful time filming with some big time actors. Made my carreer worth all the sweat and tears I endured along the way. We are hoping it will be in theaters in the fall.

I hope that you all get a chance to see it and that you enjoy the story

Aloha

Pat Gilbert

P.S. Did anyone take pictures at the Fundango ?

04/26/21 09:39 PM #3755

Marge Updegraff (Mendeljian)

Pat Gilbert asked me to post the following pictures on the movie production he was in.

See Dave Dunmead's post on the CBS News Report link on the movie.
