To my friends, fellow Spartans, and classmates,

I thought that I should share with you that our fellow Start Spartan, Ed Kanarowski, recently had an unfortunate accident while doing some work on his property. The good news is that it is nothing life threatening, the bad news is that it will require surgery.

Most unfortunately, his surgery will be on Friday morning of this week, and it will involve an overnight stay at the hospital, St Ann’s Hospital I believe.

As I am sure that you all realize from reading the postings on our message forum page, regarding the workings of our Reunion Committee, Ed has been a good and dedicated foot soldier that has strived to serve the in best interests of making our class reunion a fantastic and incredibly enjoyable experience for all of us. As you can all imagine, he is very disappointed, and a bit depressed, over the prospects of his not being able to participate in the reunion events that he worked so hard into making a reality.

Ed, I’m so sorry for your accident and will miss you. You’ve done so much work on the Fandango’s and the reunion. I’m sending thoughts of quick recovery and comfort as you heal.

Blessings & Love,

Maybe we can take part of the reunion to him!

Dearest Ed - I'm soooo sorry!!  We were hoping you would lead the dancing.  Please take care & do what your medical team tells you to promote quick healing.  We'll miss you so very much!!

I like the way your thinking Pat. I am sure you can think of something for Edward.Wish I was there to help you make it happen. Hope everyone is enjoying there stay. Get well Ed.

What is the nature of Ed's surgery?

10/01/18 07:37 PM #2819

Jeff Willets

During our talk     at the Ottawa Hills car show last week, I know how excited you were about the event, and how proud you were of what the committee had planned.  Kathy and I will miss seeing you, stay strong and get better soon.

10/01/18 08:18 PM #2820

Dale Benington

OK Gary, I confess, I blurred over when Ed was sharing some of the gory details. However, as best I recall, there was a tear in some soft tissue, that resulted in a significant gap (where there wasn't suppose to be one) between the soft tissue and the bone that it was still suppose to be attached to (which I believe was in the area of the knee). It is because of the significance of the gap that the doctor did not want to wait or postpone the operation (if I understand correctly), and Ed will be getting some additional hardware (which will add a whole new meaning to the expression "I think that you have a screw or two that is loose").

10/01/18 10:51 PM #2821

Kathy Storm (Wenninger)

Edward tore his right quadricep. He will have surgery to reattach it to his knee cap. Dr's orders, no crowds to prevent infection and injury.

10/02/18 07:24 AM #2822

Joseph Goodell

Hi Marc, we could use the canopy , bring it please , Thanks Joe G

10/02/18 07:28 AM #2823

Joseph Goodell

Classmates , with all the friends we have and connections isn't there anyone we can think of to bring Ed to Sat. night and the picnic , like a amblance with rolling banana cart ? He is well worth the effort .

10/02/18 09:39 AM #2824

Kim Wening (Maros)

My darling Eddie, who am I going to dance with Saturday night?  Well, you will be missed.  You are a very important part of the reunion.  We love you.  Joe can't wait to hear all about the surgery.  Dear friend, take care of yourself.

10/02/18 10:18 AM #2825

Janis Fought (Brown)

As you can imagine, Ed is heartbroken not to be able to share the weekend. His surgery can't be delayed as more damage would occur as Kathy said.

Fortunately Dale will be picking up the slack, hosting us at Packo's, the Start Tour bus and the Start Tour. Ed did so much work on the reunion as an active committee member. We are greatful for all you did, Ed, and you will be with us in spirit every step of the way!

There is a lesson here--nothing good can come of the meeting of a step ladder and a 68 year old.sad

10/02/18 10:21 AM #2826

Marcia Kelso (Wilkinson)

All your hard work, and now this.  It couldn't have happened at a worse time.  But know that you will be thought of and remembered - your ears will be ringing.  Do what the doctors say so that you heal properly and quickly.  We'll have a toast to you and pray for your healing.  Best wishes for a speedy recovery, and many  thanks for all you've done to make this weekend an "affair" to remember.

10/02/18 01:23 PM #2827

Patrick Gilbert

So sorry to hear about this mishap Ed. I was looking forward to seeing you again. Isn't there a way that we could put the reunion festivities on the internet for Ed? We could go live on Facebook but there has to be a better way. Who knows about this stuff?

10/02/18 02:32 PM #2828

Karen Narewski (Warlick)

Edward, say it isn't so ☹. Was so looking
forward to seeing you again. I have a Samsung android. If you do then maybe we can pass the phone around and video chat. That would be one way to get you there! Know you'll be in my thoughts and prayers..

Hello Spartans...

We just had a very nice dinner @ The Texas Road House with Dave & Sue Dunmead, Roger and Elaine Worley & La-Li and myself. Their rolls are great and the ribs fell off the bone. While there I got a message from Marge who asked if I made reservations at Inkys for tomorrow night. I told her that I DID NOT as I only got one email (hers) confirming that they were going to attend. She then told me that she knows of ten classmates who were going (from the committee mtg today) and with our six that makes 16. So Marge made reservation for 16.

IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON ATTENDING INKYS @ 7:00 pm TOMORROW NIGHT...PLEASE CALL INKYS AND MAKE A RESERVATION.

Thanks kids... Let the party begin!!!

Oh, ED!!!  I am so sorry about the accident.  We will figure something out so many of us can facetime with you.  Someone posted about ladders and 68 year olds not mixing.  Last year my husband had a calcaneous fracture of his heel from...you guessed it...a ladder incident.  The doctor said then, "At retirement, all persons need to stay off ladders."  He said all of the injuries stemmed from ladders or jumping from the second row of cells at the local county jail.  What were you you REALLY doing?!?!?!?  Prayers for you.
