AMEN to confusion & fading memory - daily!  I remember thinking that my parents were old when they didn't remember something - now I'm in the same shape

I think it's because we all have so many memories we've stored during our 73 years!

Thank you Jan. I will post his passing on our "In Memory" page.

I used to hang with both brothers Mark and Marty. Mark used to own a bar here in Waterville and Marty would be there and we would drink and talk about school and the things we used to do.

My condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends. May he Rest in Peace.

FUNDANGO - today November 28th at 3:30 Northwood Villa  -  BE THERE!

11/28/23 08:46 AM #4450

Dale Benington

Here is a FYI that I thought that I should share.

Last night I received a text message, expressing concern, because the Northwood Villa had been contacted to find out what time our reservation for today was set for and they had been told that there was no reservation for Start High School, which is true.

For the record, Ed and I sometimes set up our monthly “Fundangoes” without making a reservation, although we would prefer to be able to so. In some cases we are told that they don’t accept reservations, but because we are showing up on a Tuesday (usually a low volume customer day), at 3:30, they don’t think that there will be any difficulties in accommodating us.

In the case of today’s “Fundango” at the Northwood Villa, we were told that if we made a group reservation, we would have to order from their more limited group menu, where all of the menu offerings cost $35. After talking it over, we decided instead to have everyone simply show up and request to be seated together, so that we could all order from the more standard menu, and not be forced to pay (and eat) more than we necessarily wanted to.

I am hoping that arrangement will successfully work out and be to everyone’s satisfaction.

Today Ed and I stopped by Start High School to pick up a Hall of Fame Nomination Form in an attempt to begin the process of nominating our classmate, Michael Bochnovich, but we are going to need some help finding all of the required information. It would also seem that there just might be a couple of issues that we might need some help in overcoming as well.

The first issue is that there are only 10 individuals each year that are inducted into the Hall of Fame, and of some concern, only 1 posthumous award may be presented at each ceremony. Because of that, I would like to do as much as I can to enhance Michael’s nomination.

Now I am guessing that many of you are thinking that with "Bones" being the original Spartan, it should be easy cheesy, a slam dunk. I would certainly like to think that too, but, in talking with the Start HS principal, he raised some issues that were like red waring flags.

According to him, a number of former Spartans, have assumed that all you needed was an impressive athletic or academic career, during your time as a student at Start HS, in order to be a successful candidate. Not so according to the principal, who tells us that the major focus of the HOF Committee is what you have done in your post high school years, for either Roy C. Start or the local community (the exact wording is, “… who have made significant contributions and accomplishments to Start High School and/or to the community”).

So if I am understanding this correctly, and we have a number of current classmates who are in the Hall of Fame, who are more knowledgeable on these matters than myself, we have the fact that Michael is no longer living, and that he spent very little of his post graduate years in the Toledo area, working against us.

We can talk more about this later, but I did want to motivate everyone to get on their thinking caps and perhaps help to find suitable application enhancements. Thanks for your time.

Thanks, Marge for posting pics.  Who cares if they're upside down - it's great to see all those smiling faces!!  A big thank you for being the Fundango photographer!!!

First, I would like to thank those of you that DMed me Happy Birthday wishes. That was most kind of you and much appreciated.

Second, I want to wish Kim Wening (Marcos) a Happy Birthday on this the 34th anniversary of her 39th birthday.

Third, in looking over the HOF application form, they have indicated that news stories will be very helpful, so I thought that I would ask if anyone had any news articles that featured, or included, Michael Bochnovich that you could make a copy of and send to me.

That’s it, Thanks.

Season Greetings,

Arrangements have been made to hold our December “Fundango” on Tuesday (12/26), at the Jing Chuan Restaurant, located on 4424 Secor Road, starting at 4:30 pm.

Note, the Jing Chaun has interesting hours, being open from 11:30 until 2:30, then closing, and opening again from 4:30 until 8:30. So don’t start showing up for our usual 3:30 start, or you will be sitting in the parking lot for awhile (ho-ho-ho).
